After years of public attention and updated regulations that should protect children from unsafe products, children in this country are still being injured at an alarming rate because of hazardous toys and other products.
New products are being recalled almost daily because of the dangers they pose. To keep informed of current recalls, you can check the Consumer Product Safety Commission's website. Recent recalls in just the last month include:
- McDonald's recalled the Hello Kitty themed whistles that came in Happy Meals because of a choking hazard.
- Toys R Us recalled a plastic toy toaster, the Just Like Home Toy Toaster Set, due to a choking hazard.
- Meijer recalled Halloween projector flashlights because the lights could overheat, melt their plastic cases and cause burns.
As a concerned parent, you should be careful when selecting new toys for your child and use caution when your child receives a used toy.
