The National Safety Council, along with thousands of organizations nationwide, observes June as a month in which to raise awareness about staying safe and preventing accidents in all aspects of our lives.
As part of National Safety Month, the National Safety Council released some compelling figures that put our common fears into perspective when compared with the everyday things that can harm us. For example, Americans are
●52 times as likely to die of a prescription painkiller overdose than of electrocution.
●862 times as likely to die in a motor vehicle crash as in an airplane crash.
●47 times as likely to die from a fall than in a severe thunderstorm.
●350 times as likely to die while riding in a car than in a lightning strike.
Statistics like these remind us that our daily lives are far more dangerous than the uncommon situations we might worry about. Even the simple act of getting dressed is riskier than most of us might normally suspect.
Danger is unavoidable, but when the unthinkable does happen, trust an experienced professional to protect your interests. If you’ve been injured in an accident, you have the right to seek compensation from the negligent party.
